My Story

During my teens, I had several dear friends share with me their struggles with mental health and trauma. I was outraged by the wrong they endured and the lack of support available to address such challenges. I became determined to find supportive spaces where people who look like my friends and I would feel seen. I quickly came to realize that these spaces were sorely missing. Informed by my own lived experiences with intersecting identities and by those who entrusted me with their struggles, I landed in the work of counselling. As a counsellor, I am committed to holding space where you can just be you.

Counselling is a place for stories to be shared and held with the utmost care. I will listen compassionately, without judgment, and honour the strengths and wisdom that are inherently part of you. By naming those strengths and understanding the contexts of our struggles, we begin to feel empowered to move through challenges, find our true voice, and heal authentically.

My Approach

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa where I developed my eclectic style of counselling. My experience in non-profit and anti-violence spanning over six years has helped me develop an equity-minded approach working with marginalized identities.

As a second-generation immigrant settler, I gratefully acknowledge that I live and work on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil Waututh) Coast Salish peoples, otherwise known as Vancouver, BC. My bicultural identity has allowed me to live in and navigate the in-between spaces with all of its ambiguity, contradictions, richness, and beauty. My training in therapeutic approaches include:

  • Anti-oppressive

  • Feminist

  • Decolonizing

  • Trauma-informed

  • Multicultural

  • Anti-racist

  • Narrative

  • Mindfulness

  • Person-centered

  • CBT

  • DBT

  • EFT
